ACTIVITIES OF PUBLIC SECTOR SUGAR MILLS WITH REFERENCE TO CANE GROWERS:

The Chief executive of the Public sector sugar Mills are vested with the powers to cater to the needs of the cane growers who are registering and supplying sugar cane to the Mills. The Mills maintain direct contact with the cane growers in the following areas.:

i. Registration of cane cultivated by the farmers as per the requirements of the Mills.

ii. Providing extension services to the farmers for proper cane cultivation and improving the yield and recovery.

iii. Supply of inputs required for proper cultivation of sugar cane crop.

iv. Recommending financial assistance in the form of crop loan through Primary Agricultural Co-operative Bank and Nationalised Banks for sugarcane cultivation.

v. Issue of cane cutting orders as per priority list drawn in advance and check against any deviation.

vi. Payment for the cane supplied by the members and cane growers.
